Executive Committee Positions 

Chair

The Chair of the Squadron Sponsoring Committee serves as the primary civilian leader and liaison for the squadron. This role involves coordinating the activities of the committee, working closely with the Commanding Officer to develop a strong local team, and representing the squadron in the community. The Chair is responsible for scheduling and conducting regular meetings, ensuring effective communication among committee members, and overseeing the financial management of the squadron. They also play a crucial role in maintaining relationships with sponsors, attending provincial meetings, and submitting required reports to higher headquarters. The Chair's leadership is essential in guiding the committee's efforts to support the squadron's operations and enhance the cadet experience.

Assistant Chair

The Assistant Chair, also known as the Vice-Chair, supports the Chair in managing the Squadron Sponsoring Committee and ensures continuity of leadership. This role involves assisting with the coordination of committee activities, filling in for the Chair when necessary, and taking on specific responsibilities as assigned. The Assistant Chair often leads subcommittees or special projects and plays a key role in succession planning for the committee. They work closely with the Chair to develop agendas, implement strategies, and maintain strong relationships with the Commanding Officer and other stakeholders. The Assistant Chair's position is crucial for the smooth operation of the committee and provides valuable leadership experience.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for managing the squadron's finances and ensuring its financial health. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing and presenting monthly financial statements, and developing the annual budget in collaboration with the Chair and Commanding Officer. The Treasurer handles all financial transactions, including paying bills, making deposits, and managing charitable donation receipts. They are also responsible for preparing and submitting financial reports to the Air Cadet League and government agencies, such as the ACC9 and T3010 forms. The Treasurer's role is critical in maintaining transparency, accountability, and sound financial management practices within the squadron.

Secretary

The Secretary plays a vital role in maintaining effective communication and record-keeping for the Squadron Sponsoring Committee. This position involves preparing and distributing meeting agendas, taking detailed minutes of all committee meetings, and ensuring that all official documents are properly filed and accessible. The Secretary manages correspondence, maintains the squadron's non-military records, and assists in preparing reports for the Air Cadet League and other organizations. They work closely with the Chair to ensure that all committee members are informed of meetings, decisions, and important updates. The Secretary's attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for the smooth operation of the committee and maintaining a clear history of the squadron's activities and decisions.

Director Positions

 

Volunteer Director

The Volunteer Director plays a crucial role in managing and coordinating the squadron's volunteer workforce. This position involves recruiting, organizing, and scheduling volunteers for various squadron activities and events. The director works closely with other committee members to identify volunteer needs, create job descriptions, and ensure that all volunteer positions are filled. They are responsible for maintaining a database of volunteers, recognizing their contributions, and fostering a positive volunteer experience. The Volunteer Director also collaborates with the Commanding Officer to align volunteer efforts with the squadron's training and operational requirements

Fundraising / Casino Director

The Fundraising / Casino Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing fundraising initiatives to support the squadron's financial needs. This role involves developing and implementing fundraising strategies, applying for gaming licenses and grants, and coordinating casino events. The director maintains financial records related to fundraising activities, prepares reports for the board and regulatory bodies, and ensures compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. They work closely with the Treasurer and other committee members to set fundraising goals, manage budgets, and allocate funds raised to support cadet activities and equipment needs

Volunteer Screening Director

The Volunteer Screening Director is tasked with ensuring the safety and security of cadets by managing the screening process for all adult volunteers. This role involves coordinating the registration and screening of new volunteers, conducting interviews, checking references, and facilitating background checks. The director maintains confidential records of all screening documents and ensures compliance with Air Cadet League policies and procedures. They work closely with the Provincial Committee to process screening applications and keep the squadron's volunteer database up-to-date. The Volunteer Screening Director plays a critical role in safeguarding the well-being of cadets and maintaining the integrity of the squadron's volunteer program.

League Advisor

The League Advisor serves as a vital link between the Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) and the Provincial Committee, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. This role involves providing guidance and support to the SSC, helping them navigate the policies and procedures of the Air Cadet League of Canada. The League Advisor is responsible for attending SSC meetings, relaying important information from the Provincial Committee, and assisting in the development of the squadron's operational strategies. They play a key role in fostering positive relationships among the squadron's leadership, including the Commanding Officer and other committee members, while also advocating for the needs and interests of the cadets. The League Advisor's involvement is crucial in promoting the objectives of the Air Cadet program and ensuring the successful operation of the squadron within the broader framework of the League.
